ABC Creative Music Online
Meeting the aims and fulfilling the requirements of the 2014 Music National Curriculum at KS1 and KS2
For Key Stage 1 the 2014 Music National Curriculum requires that pupils are taught to play tuned and untuned instruments musically, and experiment with, create, select and combine sounds.
At Key Stage 2 the curriculum requires that pupils should develop an understanding of musical composition, organising and manipulating musical ideas.
In short the pupils have to learn to improvise, perform, improvise, and compose.
It is these elements within the curriculum that ABC Creative Music meets, and it does so in a way that allows schools to utilise all classroom staff to teach music, irrespective of whether they have had any musical training or experience, or not.
ABC Creative Music takes the building blocks of music, and allows children to explore and develop them via the interactive whiteboard. The children thus compose and perform their own works, exactly as required by the National Curriculum.
At the same time the children use age-appropriate notation and develop musical skills in rhythm pitch, singing, and using instruments, as well as coming to understand how they can compose and perform music in the classroom.
